Going above and beyond the call of duty – LloydsPharmacy announces its Pre-registration Trainee of the Year 2015
Fighting off stiff competition, Elizabeth Olayinka from Barton Hill Pharmacy in Torquay, Devon, is this year’s LloydsPharmacy Pre-registration Trainee of the Year.
Ms Olayinka was nominated by her peer group, and shortlisted by her pre-registration tutor and area manager who commended her exceptional work, infectious enthusiasm and outstanding commitment to patient care.
Commenting on her achievement, Ms Olayinka exclaimed “I am honored to receive this award as I know how hard we have all worked this year to provide the best customer service and consultancy we can. I have really enjoyed learning from my mentors in the LloydsPharmacy training programme to better understand the customers’ and business needs as well as fostering a relationship with those in the community. Winning this award has made it all the more rewarding.”
Steve Howard, Superintendent, and Quality and Regulatory Director at Celesio UK, including LloydsPharmacy, said: “Elizabeth is an outstanding young professional, and having spent some time with her, her passion and enthusiasm for pharmacy and her patients comes over very clearly indeed. During her interview for Pre-registration Trainee of the Year she was very able to articulate how she demonstrates our company values and patient centered professionalism every day. She clearly cares deeply about what she does and I am very proud that she will be continuing to work with us now qualified, and I have no doubt she will develop into an excellent pharmacist.”
Her Area Manager, Steve Mander, said “Elizabeth demonstrated every attribute that a pre-registration student should have; always positive, keen to learn and willing to help. Elizabeth understands that patients are at the forefront of everything we do and went out of her way to give the best possible care and advice. She collaborated with other team members both within the pharmacy and with new colleagues at external events.
“Her abundant enthusiasm for pharmacy was present throughout her placement and was infectious amongst the pharmacy team and her peer group. Nothing was ever too much trouble and she used her initiative when her tutor was away or tasks were completed. Her award of pre-registration trainee of the year is well deserved and she now has an exciting career in pharmacy to look forward to.”
Ms Olayinka, added “From my first-class training with LloydsPharmacy there are a lot of career options for me and I know I can rely on the support of LloydsPharmacy to take my career to the next level.”
Steve Howard noted: “Our training programme is rigorous. Each pre-registration trainee is assigned a tutor and receives in-pharmacy training as well as off-site development days so that they can be best equipped in their professional careers. We are so pleased to see so many candidates pursue their dream of being a trained pharmacist and to demonstrate such passion. They are the future of primary care services and will be an immense support to the UK’s healthcare system.”
