Launch of Health Heroes: 19 March 2013
Lloydspharmacy, in association with The Daily Mail and ITV’s This Morning, is on a quest to find the nation’s Health Heroes: those involved in healthcare who have gone far beyond what is expected of them and delivered outstanding care and support to patients. These are the unsung heroes, whether working on the front-line or behind the scenes, who deserve some recognition.
Health Heroes was launched by The Prime Minister, David Cameron, in an interview with The Daily Mail today.
From 20 March to 19 April, members of the public are invited to nominate their Health Hero. That could be a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, health visitor, porter, carer…or anyone else who is your Health Hero.
Nominations can be made on-line at www.lloydspharmacy.co.uk/healthhero or by picking up a form at a Lloydspharmacy.
From those nominated, five finalists will be chosen and invited to an all expenses paid prestigious award dinner which will take place in London in June where an overall winner will be chosen. The prize for the winner is a fantastic holiday to a maximum value of £5,000.
The Daily Mail and ITV’s This Morning programme are Health Heroes official media partners in conjunction with Lloydspharmacy.
Health Heroes also has the backing of Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State for Health at the Department of Health who said, “Staff and volunteers are at the heart of the NHS. I have had the privilege to meet hundreds of truly inspirational people who work tirelessly to care for their patients. Their work and commitment is priceless and we can never praise them highly enough.
I would urge as many members of the public as possible to nominate their own health heroes and help us celebrate the incredible work that takes place everyday in our health service.”
Celesio UK & Lloydspharmacy Managing Director, Cormac Tobin said, “I am delighted that Lloydspharmacy is sponsoring this award in conjunction with The Daily Mail and ITV’s This Morning.
We know there are lots of health heroes out there doing a fantastic job and they deserve credit for that.
As a company Lloydspharmacy is committed to supporting improvements in patient care across the healthcare sector and Health Heroes is one way of achieving that”.
