Alzheimer’s Society & Alzheimer Scotland
There are now over 850,000 people living with dementia and this number is expected to grow to one million by 2025. There are also 670,000 carers of people with dementia in the UK. Only 44% of people with dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland receive a diagnosis, which means there are a vast number of people still undiagnosed and potentially without the care and support they need.

Celesio UK has proudly been supporting the Dementia Friends initiative since Dementia Awareness Week 2014 by growing our own community of Dementia Friends amongst our colleagues. This has already seen over 4,000 colleagues attend information sessions in order to better assist those affected by dementia directly within their communities by becoming a Dementia Friend.

In April 2015, Celesio UK became corporate partners with Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland. Although fundraising for the charities is a vital part of our partnership we know there is more as a company we are able to deliver. We aim for our business to become a dementia friendly business by working with the charities on a number of initiatives.

For more information on our partnership, please take a look at the following strategy document:

Through our outreach to local communities, we aim to work closely with the charities to raise awareness of dementia and improve access to information, advice and services in order to enhance the quality of life for patients as well as their carers and family members.
