As Speciality Director, Ruth will lead Celesio UK’s work with third parties to meet patients’ needs.  She will direct work with strategic pharma, healthcare and product manufacturing partners to influence the way patients behave, improve the patient experience and to support the NHS outcomes framework.

Ruth joins from Healthcare at Home, where she held the position of group commercial director. In over 20 years with the innovative home healthcare organisation, Ruth was instrumental in driving growth and establishing it as market leading. She saw the company grow from a handful of patients to over 150,000.

She commented: “I’m delighted to be joining a business that is always thinking ‘what’s next?’— that’s something we need to continue. As part of my role, I want to develop our speciality offering to give us a compelling and relevant proposition that works for our customers and ultimately helps patients to live more positive lives.”

Ruth is a trustee of the NHS Confederation and director of the NHS Partners Network. She also has a background as a clinical nurse from earlier in her career. She says: “That experience has never left me and helps me to understand the full impact of business decisions and ensure that they’re right for everyone involved.”

Celesio UK managing director, Cormac Tobin, commented: “I’m really excited that Ruth is bringing her energy and passion to our team. Her wealth of experience, expertise and leadership qualities makes her a perfect fit for Celesio UK.

“Her initial priorities will be to build on our reputation as a distributor of speciality medicines and the further development of our end to end proposition for hospital pharmacy to support our NHS customers in delivering their objectives.”

Ruth lives in the West Country with her husband and five children. She is passionate about seeking out adventure and recently went kayaking unaided through the Amazon jungle.
