John Bell & Croyden refit update

Cormac Tobin, Managing Director at Celesio UK, including LloydsPharmacy

Work to refit our flagship Central London John Bell & Croyden pharmacy started this spring and we’re now just over half way through. I wanted to share the impressive progress that has been made in less than three months of our £4m investment project.

Merchandising & Opening Week-June 26, 2015-128

Half of the store has been updated and is now reopen to the public. We’ve stripped back the low ceilings and have installed period style lighting in keeping with the original ornate cornices and columns, which are now more visible.

I think you’ll agree that the change since this ‘before’ shot was taken is pretty impressive.

Simple display units, stripped back décor and plenty of good lighting will help customers find the products they need.

We’ve also made space to display some previously archived pharmaceutical tools and storage vessels – some which date back more than 100 years – to showcase John Bell & Croyden’s rich history.

Car Delivery-June 03, 2015-3

In contrast, this distinctively British Jaguar XF car boot has been installed within the independent living aids area of the shop floor. It will allow customers to test the accessibility of products.

Refit Week 8-June 10, 2015-53

Excellent progress has been made on our new clinic rooms, which will be open for chiropody, osteopathy, hygienist and skincare treatments.

Refit Week 9-June 19, 2015-160

Finally, we’ve reglazed the entire store frontage, creating a clearer view for customers into John Bell & Croyden – and letting more natural light into the pharmacy.

While work continues, our John Bell & Croyden colleagues are doing a fantastic job to keep the pharmacy open as normal while adapting to the changes that the updated store will bring.

I’m very excited to see what the next few weeks hold as our builders work on the other half of the store and hope to share some more progress soon.
